Disclaimer
Last reviewed September 7, 2026 by the developer who builds and maintains this site. Rewritten around what an estimate on this site actually is. It carried the disclaimer any site could carry and never said how many of the numbers rest on a published document; the counts now come from the provenance records.
For planning purposes only
All calculators, tools, and estimates provided by Nest Quantum (nestquantum.com) are for planning and educational purposes only. Results are estimates based on standard industry formulas and average values. They are not professional assessments, engineering calculations, or construction recommendations.
No professional advice
Nothing on this website constitutes professional advice - including but not limited to engineering, architectural, legal, financial, or construction advice. Always consult a qualified professional before:
- • Beginning structural, electrical, plumbing, roofing, or gas work
- • Applying for building permits
- • Making significant financial decisions based on cost estimates
- • Working with hazardous materials such as lead paint or asbestos
Accuracy of estimates
Actual material quantities, project costs, and outcomes may vary significantly based on local material prices, product coverage rates, surface conditions, installer skill, site-specific conditions, and local building codes. Nest Quantum makes no warranties, express or implied, about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any estimate for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
Nest Quantum and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use of any calculator, tool, or content on this website, including but not limited to material shortages, cost overruns, project failures, or personal injury.
What an estimate means here
The sixty calculators run on 181 constants. 14 of them cite a published document that anyone can go and read, 11 are true by definition, and 143 are this project's own model: a figure chosen to be reasonable, stated as a model rather than a fact, with its derivation written down. Nothing is presented as measured that is not.
Every calculator prints that record under its results, constant by constant, with the value it used, what it applies to and when the source was last read. If a figure matters to your decision, check it there rather than trusting the headline. The methodology indexes all sixty.
Where these estimates are weakest
Cost is the weak part, and it is weak for a structural reason rather than a careless one: national average installed prices are not published as data anyone can cite, so every cost table here is a model. Two contractors quoting the same job in the same town routinely differ by more than the width of the range shown.
- • Cost figures are ranges on purpose. A single number would be a false precision
- • Energy models are calibrated to national average consumption, so they describe a typical house and not yours
- • Material quantities are the most reliable output here, and they still depend on your measurements
- • Nothing on this site knows your local code, your soil, your access or what is behind your walls
What this site does not do
It does not design anything. It does not check compliance with any building code. It does not produce a quote, and it cannot be relied on as one. It does not inspect your property, and it never sees your inputs: every calculation runs in your browser. Where a job needs a licensed professional, an engineer, a permit or an inspection, that requirement is not removed by an estimate agreeing with you.
If a figure looks wrong
Send it to [email protected] with the calculator, the inputs you used and what you expected instead. A reply comes within two working days. Where a correction changes an answer it is published on the corrections page with the old value beside the new one, rather than quietly deployed.

Maintained by the developer who builds and maintains this site. One person is answerable for every figure on this site, which is the point of publishing where each of them came from. Corrections go to [email protected] and get a reply within two working days.
