Privacy policy

Last reviewed September 7, 2026 by the developer who builds and maintains this site. Rewritten after consent landed. It described three third parties in the conditional, saying what they may do; they are now named individually with what each one does, what it retains, and the fact that none of them loads until the banner is answered.

The short version

Nest Quantum calculators run in your browser. We do not require accounts, payments, or form submissions to use the tools, and we do not receive the dimensions, quantities, costs, or results you enter into a calculator.

Three third-party services can run here: one for advertising, which is what pays for the site, and two for measurement. None of them loads until you answer the banner, and if you say no, none of them loads at all. When they do load they see the technical things any site sees: an IP address, a browser and device, the pages viewed, an approximate location and their own cookie identifiers. They never see a dimension, a quantity, a cost or a result, because those never leave this page.

Calculator data

Calculator inputs and results are processed locally by your browser. We do not store a copy of your project measurements, cost assumptions, material quantities, or downloaded exports on our servers.

None of the following ever reaches us:

  • • Calculator inputs (dimensions, quantities, costs)
  • • Calculator results
  • • Account information (we have no accounts)
  • • Payment information (all tools are free)
  • • Project files or saved estimates

What is stored on your device

Up to five things, all in your browser's local storage, none of which leaves it. Three are there only if you ask for them.

  • • theme, if you pick light or dark using the control in the header. It holds one word. Setting the theme back to matching your system deletes it.
  • • consent, once you answer the cookie question. It holds what you allowed, the date you answered, and a version number so that if what is being asked ever changes, you are asked again rather than assumed.
  • • unit-system, if you switch a calculator to metric. It holds one word. Switching back to feet and inches deletes it.
  • • remember-inputs, if you tick "Remember what I enter on this device" under a calculator. It holds one character, and unticking the box deletes it.
  • • inputs: followed by a calculator's name, one per calculator you have used since ticking that box. Each holds the values you last calculated with and the date you did, so a room size or a budget is in there. They are deleted 30 days after they are written, deleted the moment you untick the box, and never written at all while it is unticked.

The box is off until you turn it on, on every device separately, and turning it off removes everything already kept rather than only stopping new writes. It is not part of the cookie question: nothing saved this way is sent anywhere, so refusing advertising does not take it away and allowing advertising does not turn it on.

Nothing else. With the box unticked, calculator inputs and results are held in memory while the page is open and are gone when you close it. If you share a calculation with the link button, the values travel in the address bar of the link you copy, which means they are visible to anyone you send it to and to anything that logs the URL. That is your choice to make and nothing happens until you make it.

Nothing loads until you choose

Three third parties can run on this site, and none of them runs before you answer the banner. That is not a claim about intent: the scripts are not on the page until the answer allows them, so there is no request to make. Before any answer, every Google consent signal is set to denied, including the two that Consent Mode v2 added for advertising data and personalisation.

If you reject, nothing is loaded and nothing is measured. The site earns less and works identically. You can change your mind at any time from Cookie choices in the footer, which withdraws the old answer and asks again rather than showing you what you picked last time.

The three, and what each does

Google AdSense (advertising)

Serves the ads that pay for the site, and sets cookies to limit repeats, measure performance and personalise where permitted. Loaded only if you allow advertising. What Google does with the data is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and personalisation can be turned off independently at adssettings.google.com.

Google Analytics (measurement)

Counts page views and seven events: a calculation finishing, sample data being loaded, a CSV exported, a sheet printed, a link copied, a chart being scrolled to, and a form being started and left without a result. Each carries the name of the calculator and nothing else. There is no field in which a number you typed could travel, which is enforced in the code rather than promised here. IP addresses are anonymised. Loaded only if you allow measurement.

Ahrefs Analytics (measurement)

Counts page views and referrers. It is cookieless by design and collects no events. Loaded only if you allow measurement.

Retention

This site keeps nothing. There is no database, no server that receives a form, and no account. What the three third parties keep is theirs, under their own policies linked above, and their retention is set in their products rather than here.

Your own answer to the cookie question expires after thirteen months, after which you are asked again. The hosting provider keeps request logs the way every host does, which is how a static site is served at all.

What is never collected

  • • The numbers you type into a calculator, or any result they produce
  • • A name, an email address, or anything that identifies you to this site
  • • Payment details. There is nothing to buy and no account to make
  • • Free text of any kind. No field on this site sends what you write anywhere
